National Gallery Singapore-Cultural Heritage Experience

Great cultural institutions preserve history. Exceptional cultural institutions bring history to life. Created in collaboration with an international commissioned artist, this landmark installation transforms traditional Māori and Southeast Asian weaving traditions into a living visual experience. Through movement, light, and scale, the artwork creates a contemporary dialogue between heritage and modern audiences.

Where Wind Meets Design

The Brief

How do you transform cultural heritage into an experience that contemporary audiences can connect with?

The National Gallery Singapore sought a landmark installation that could celebrate indigenous weaving traditions while creating a meaningful dialogue between history, culture, and modern visitors.

The Creation

In collaboration with an international commissioned artist, we have translated traditional Māori and Southeast Asian weaving patterns into a living kinetic tapestry.

Thousands of reflective elements move naturally with wind and light, allowing the artwork to shift continuously throughout the day. The result is an immersive cultural experience that transforms heritage into something visitors can feel rather than simply observe.

The System

Powered by the WEIMODECOR Kinetic Art System, the installation relies entirely on natural airflow and ambient light. The system delivers long-term visual impact without electricity, offering a sustainable and low-maintenance solution for large-scale cultural environments.
